Installfest returns to UAT

Starting on 18 July the twice a month installfest will return to University of Advancing Technology: 2625 W Baseline,Tempe, AZ 85283 (between 48th and Fry's). The time remains the same 10am to 4 pm.
Anyone interested in Linux is welcome. We can just chat. We can install almost any version of Linux on your computer, router, server, Raspberry PI, or ???. You can fix or learn open source programs in a one on one training class.

AZLOCO Re-validation

Every two years each Ubuntu Local Community must be re-validated by the Ubuntu LoCo Council. Our turn is approaching. Our application has been submitted, and we have been placed on the schedule for 1300 MST (1 pm) on 18 August 2015. The meeting will take place on line at #ubuntu-meeting. Please attend if possible. Your support will be appreciated.

Arduino workshop at Local Motors

A couple of weeks ago I attended a workshop on Arduino at Local Motors (LM). There were about 20 people, some with experience; others with none. Some brought their own Arduino kits and LM provided kits for us who did not have. First, there was a presentation on Arduino so that we could understand the basics. Then we started the workshop; our first exercise was to blink a LED. In Arduino terms, you enable one pin as output, then you loop to set the value to 0 and 1. Here's the code:
